Release Notes
New features: Agentic AI Development, Major Feature Highlights for Omniverse Kit, Clash Detection SDK, and Sensor Simulation:
- Agentic AI Development: The 26h1 Production Branch makes Kit and platform services agent-native:
- Kit SDK: Ships with first-party MCP servers exposing 400+ Kit extensions, 1,000+ config settings, and app templates to Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex agents. These are made available on the NVIDIA-Omniverse/kit-usd-agents GitHub repo.
- Storage API: Includes a dedicated ovstorage Agent Skills package to scaffold local or production-grade Storage API deployments and custom adapters, using conversational prompts.
- OV/USD Content Cache 3.0 + Derived Data Cache 5.0: Caching services ship with an agent skills package; each SKILL.md guides agents through the evaluation, sizing, configuration, and deployment.
- Kit SDK / Core Extensions / Kit App Template:
- Rendering and Materials: Full path-tracing support for Gaussian splats via the new UsdVol.ParticleField OpenUSD schema. New OmniProjectorAPI enables runtime projected UV generation. Adds OpenPBR support and an updated Material Graph Editor sample with full MaterialX support.
- Physics and Performance: Nested rigid-body physics and Fabric performance optimizations deliver higher-fidelity, scalable simulation for large, complex industrial and robotics scenes, improving throughput for digital twins, industrial automation, and large-scale synthetic data generation.
- CAD/DGN Conversion: Expanded interoperability with ACIS solid modeling support, BSplineSurface-to-mesh conversion, and richer diagnostics for higher-fidelity CAD-to-USD pipelines and easier troubleshooting of conversion issues.
- Clash Detection: Now a core Kit extension with published tests, simplifying setup for Kit-based apps with clash detection. Supports streamed point clouds for real-time analysis against meshes in dynamic-capture workflows, with improved baking, visualization, and dual-viewport support.
- Sensor Simulation: Sensor Processing Graph for custom sensor post-processing modeling represented in OpenUSD; OmniUltrasonic schema for schema-based ultrasonic sensor definition; API for instantaneous full-scan lidar capture; reduced memory usage for non-visual sensors.
- Visualization for Robotics Learning: New minimal render mode for extremely fast, stable visualization without full light transport; scene partitioning allows splitting the visibility of a scene between different sensors.
- Omniverse Storage API (ovstorage): Inaugural release providing API specifications for custom development of service adapters, with NVIDIA reference implementations, enabling new deployments to leverage AWS S3 or Azure Blob storage within Omniverse. This new stack is capable of running on both local and production-level Kubernetes infrastructure.
- Enterprise Nucleus Server (2023.2.10): Security updates and patches, including support for Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and Docker 29.4.1.
- OV/USD Content Cache 3.0: A shared file cache that offers support for S3, Azure, GCP, Omniverse Storage, and the Enterprise Nucleus Server. The Content Cache enables faster file loads from remote storage backends and reduces egress from backend storage.
- Derived Data Cache 5.0: A shared caching service for optimized RTX renderer data. This improves performance and reduces load times for all users by providing cached shaders, textures, geometry, and more.
Production Branch - May 2026 includes:
