NVIDIA® BlueField® NVMe-oF Target Solution
Overview
NVIDIA® BlueField® enables hardware acceleration for the NVMe-oF (Non-Volatile Memory Express over Fabrics) target application. In this solution, NVMe-oF RoCE/RDMA packets are processed by BlueField® hardware and passed directly from the network to the storage disk drives.
Key Components
The container includes a comprehensive NVMe-oF target solution composed of:
-
DOCA Library (DOCA STA – “Storage Target Accelerator”):
- Configures and interacts with the offload accelerator.
-
NVMe-oF Target Application:
- Supports the exposed DOCA STA public APIs to enable hardware offloading.
Benefits
This solution allows the entire NVMe-oF target data path to run on the BlueField hardware accelerator engine, freeing up BlueField® ARM cores for other tasks. The offload datapath logic communicates with attached NVMe drives using PCIe P2P (peer-to-peer) technology.
Requirements
- BlueField® Device:
- Must be a generation 3 or higher device.
- Acts as a standalone server with all NVMe drives directly attached.
Features
- Standalone accelerated NVMe-oF target application.
- Full integration with the BlueField® hardware accelerator engine.
- Efficient data path processing using PCIe P2P communication.
