NVIDIA Video Super Resolution ST 2110 NIM

What Is NVIDIA NIM?

NVIDIA NIM packages AI inference services as containerized, GPU-accelerated microservices. For Holoscan for Media deployments, NIM containers integrate AI processing into live SMPTE ST 2110 IP media pipelines.

The NVIDIA Video Super Resolution (VSR) ST 2110 NIM deploys Video Super Resolution as a live media function on NVIDIA Holoscan for Media. The service ingests uncompressed SMPTE ST 2110 video, applies AI-powered super-resolution, and emits enhanced uncompressed ST 2110 video for downstream media workflows.

Use this container when deploying Video Super Resolution into professional broadcast or media production environments that use Holoscan for Media, Rivermax, Multus networking, GPU acceleration, and ST 2110 media transport. This is the ST 2110 flavor of the Video Super Resolution NIM release. For the gRPC flavor, use the vsr-nim container.

Release Information

Published by NVIDIA. This Overview applies to VSR ST 2110 NIM release 1.0.9.

System Requirements

Deploy on a Holoscan for Media-capable Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift cluster with the following:

  • An Ada-generation or later NVIDIA GPU exposed as allocatable nvidia.com/gpu.
  • NVIDIA Driver 590.33 or later and CUDA 13.1 or later.
  • ST 2110-capable, PTP-disciplined high-speed media networking configured for Holoscan for Media, typically using NVIDIA ConnectX NICs or BlueField DPUs for Rivermax.
  • Sufficient hugepages-2Mi for the selected chart or custom-resource request.
  • NVIDIA GPU Operator, Network Operator, Multus, SR-IOV, and Rivermax with a valid Rivermax license secret.
  • Helm v3.x and kubectl or oc for deployment.

The documented operator sample requests 4 CPU, 8 GiB memory, 4 GiB hugepages-2Mi, and one GPU for the VSR NIM service. Size production resources for the selected media workflow and cluster topology.

Capabilities

  • Process uncompressed SMPTE ST 2110-20 video as a live Holoscan for Media media function.
  • Support one video input and one video output in the current operator custom resource.
  • Support NMOS registration and connection management, or static SDP and transport configuration.
  • Support output resolutions up to 3840 x 2160, supported frame rates from 23.97 to 60 fps, and UYVP / YCbCr 4:2:2 10-bit video.

Audio is not supported in the current VSR NIM ST 2110 media-function path.
